Hi there, welcome to the BLOG of my life as a Vagabiker. Beryl calls me a 'Free Spirit' my Grandpa a B.U.M. of no fixed address. Kelly says I'm 'off the wall'. I think that the Toad is closest saying I'm the Cat in the Hat it's fun to have fun—but you have to know how.

These are the stories of my unique, home-and-job-free Natness.

Naturally, quasi-legal events are fictional. Everything else is the unvarnished truth.

Why my Panties are in a Bunch

Hey there,

Sorry that I haven’t been posting up diary entries twice a day. Here’s the skinny, I had a cough that wouldn’t go away, and was stressing me out. Yeah, the only thing in my life that I had to stress about was a cough, wah, wah. But it had me pedaling squares, and getting ready to raise, or lower my saddle height, shift my cleats, and trim my hair into a mullet. Wait I did cut the mullet!

Anyways, now that I’m not sick, broken, alergied [who says Shakespeare is the only one who can invent words], or buried in snow for the first time in September, I’m just about ripping the crank arms off the old bichicletta, which has caused a whole slew of new problems to arise, which has caused me to bury poor Coach DK in a hailstorm of e-mails. This is a copy of the 3rd one which I’ve sent in the past 10 minutes, word for word.

If my mother isn’t going to e-mail me anymore, I guess I’ll have to start quoting, err mocking, myself

As you can easily see from reading it, the thing is absolutely incomprehensible. And DK knows that I have training to do, that we both agree upon for the next 3 weeks. But rather than trying to send her a concise, legible note, I instead prescribe to the “I’M NOT TALKING LOUDLY” train of though by burying her with jumping thought trains faster, with increasingly erratic, smaller, and incomplete paragraphs.

Denise,

I’m sure that you know this, but I’m not looking to see if you have workouts lined out for every day in May and June.

Now that I deem myself to have enough base, I would start doing intervals, throwing down on long climbs, and sprints after a rest week in March, so that I will be able to be competitive in races that month.

I would think that I’d be best off doing longer, slower intervals (4 min and 5 min once a week, and MAP stuff another day). But I also think that you know more about this kind of thing that I do. I would end up putting more intervals on my plate than I could recover from week after week, because I also want to be working on my sprint (well I’m already doing that, because if I’m driving to a race.. California Gas is expensive).

And the reason I am sending you 15 e-mails a day, is that I can’t seem to focus my ideas etc. and seem to be saying almost the same thing 32 different ways.

I saw 2 road runners today, on my 1h55, 90 min ride, and that made me happy.

i.e.. I want to be going fast enough to race in 3 weekends, but faster yet in May, and Most fastest in June, July. So we have to be honing fitness, honing and building.

I’m in a good place right now (since I’m not doing Redlands etc). I’d say that I’m (finally, it took 3 weeks instead of 2 because of that cold) ontop of my form and back where I should be. But this is the form that I always have. I am always this fit. If I went up the ‘bear’ the 7 mile 16% climb (or what ever it is) tomorrow, I would be 3 min off my time from last year, from 2002, from 2000. But this year, I’m at this fitness, and I’m fresh, and I’m the big bear waiting to swat the unsuspecting (fill in the blank) into the year 2008.

You should really print all these e-mails off so that I can read them out loud to myself this summer?

OK take care,

Nat

Well DK. Good luck deciphering that. I bet this Character wins 16 races next year, and gets his picture in Bicycling Magazine. Ha Ha!

Peace, Focker OUT

PS One of the paragraphs above is added just for you guys, and never was sent to DK. Can you guess which one?
