Hi there, welcome to the BLOG of my life as a Vagabiker. Beryl calls me a 'Free Spirit' my Grandpa a B.U.M. of no fixed address. Kelly says I'm 'off the wall'. I think that the Toad is closest saying I'm the Cat in the Hat it's fun to have fun—but you have to know how.

These are the stories of my unique, home-and-job-free Natness.

Naturally, quasi-legal events are fictional. Everything else is the unvarnished truth.

Operation Avoidance

Today is the second time that I rode a bike in the past 2.5 weeks.

I had fun, and it was good.

There is talk of breaking the 2 person RAAM record next year. I will keep you posted, because the budget for this race will be $25-30 000. Though we will be looking for a $25K title sponsor, realistically we will have probably 40 smaller supporters.

The deal is that we WILL win and WILL break the world record, and Will get some time with your Logo on NBC when the show airs.

So after my last, long long ago, post, for jobs that didn’t involve work, I actually received several responses, from real people offering me real jobs.

A bunch of bike shops around the continent, Construction work here, and there, as well as spraying for mosquitoes in Manitoba. It’s funny because it’s actually harder to not work than to just work. For example, without a job, you don’t really have control over where you live or what you eat. But I have a few years documented on that lifestyle

I watched the motorcycle diaries tonight, it was a toss up between that and crashing the wedding across the street. After an afternoon of moving a shower, and trying to get the leaks to stop (not the fault of my soldering, mind you) I was starting to lean towards B) Wedding, but by 8:20 pm everything was packed up…. 2nd weddings, who really gives a—

Somehow I’ve become a fan of Che, reading some books, and now watching the movie. If you missed the former, they skipped over the stealing, and the ‘we have money, but it’s more fun to bum stuff off of penniless people’ parts’.

For those wondering, I’m working construction at an undisclosed location.

Trivia
The Subie brought me here, 7 elapsed days, and 4 days of driving. I stopped to visit a friend for 2h, 2h into the trip, and repeated this pattern after 2 days. Proof that I’m old is that I could only take one day sleeping in the car. The last night of the trip, I literally slept on the roof, which was more comfortable, though the ‘quiet’ road wasn’t as quite as I’d anticipated. Ah well. I’d always wanted to do it, and I managed to leave a bigger dent in the roof that was already there.

Work is 7 days a week for a weekly average of 28h. I am riding my bike to avoid buying gasoline, and plotting bike tours- One starting in, or going through Victoria BC, and heading to Prince George in early September, or the last week of August.

The next one looks like it will be Ecuator to Aregentina or Chile, duration and route TBD, but it’s looking to be at least a quarter year endevour.

I actually trained hard for a few weeks, got stomped in a race…. Well here’s what I wrote about it at the time:

Muppet King, the Notorious N.A.T.

So after some rough, legless times, and unsuccessfully defending my 1999 title in Preston Street I announced to all within earshot (which consisted solely of Sheri) that I was retiring* then and there.

Well it turned out that there is a Muppet ride here on Tuesday nights, so I rode out and met the Group (Unlike the Skating muppets in Edmonton, these ones don’t have fuzzy faces. But while I’m at it, why battle back from being down 3-1 to loose in Game 7? Muppets I say, Muppets.)

SO for those of you who were wondering where the Subie was stored the past 6 months while I was off bike touring Centreal Americal with my Father…. I left the old girl, aka the subie, at home with my Dearest Mother, with her promise to drive her down to the road once a week. Which is fine, if you don’t consider that at most times in the winter there are 2 meters of snow on the ground

Hm-m-m
So I just read your spokepost and now know that you did go to Ottawa. Hi to K&S from us.
But if you replaced Subie with a younger model where would you be storing the “fer parts” version? I don’t think so.
Are K&S working on whipping you into shape..something about your detox suggested that.
A job without work, eh…I don’t know.
That’s all for now again,
Love Mom

*Innes claims that unless you raced D1 or D2 in Europe you technically weren’t a pro, and therefore can’t retire. It’s called Quiting.

Vader Video for people who care about this kinda thing http://youtube.com/watch?v=p5Lt34mdJhs

OK well I’ve got 2 weddings and a bike tour planned in September
