The Wedding Tour (VagaBiker 1 a)
6 weeks of 4h/ day work eventually got Classens house looking “bitchen’”
Drove to Victoria with Rid-Share person who is a documentary film maker. The plans are laid for ‘Nat- the Documentary’
One night in Whiterock – Got the ferry to Vicoria for an 8 hour visit
Built a ottoman for a friend. Drank Saltspring Pale Ale.
Rode back to the Ferry.
Drove to Prince George ‘capital of the north’ British Columbia. 16h north of Bend Oregon, and 9h from Vancouver.
Riding in the ‘north’ is nice, there are lots of roads, but the drivers aren’t so friendly. You would see lots of people riding BOBs in Bend, and when I was booting down town with a loaded up one, I’d get cheered on. That was nice.
We went backpacking for 3 days in the ‘wild’
that was cool
Nat Clothed Weight before trip: 162lb
Pack Weight before trip: 46lb
Nat weight after trip (still clothed): 158lbs
Pack weight after trip: 32lbs
Comments: backpacks should not weigh more than 35lbs. It was waay tooo heavy. The middle day (after drinking the wine) there was no water, so carrying 5L was still very heavy.
The subie overheated on the drive in 18km logging road, so my pack lightened itself 2.2lb as I replaced a L of fluid.
Stomped up to the top of a ‘mountain’ I could see one very blue lake, lots of other, bigger mountains, and lots and lots of trees. This made me fell rather small.
I saw bear, and moose footprints, but none of those characters… photo’s to follow.
I left, for Quesnel.
The subie will be 4 weeks-ish in a field
Had Coffee with Jerry Atkins, 1998 Roommate, king of Quesnel.
Fran overfed me. And I spent a day re-packing my BOB trailer.
Initial trailer weight: 54lbs
Current Trailer weight: 43lbs (less food, less clothing, less campstove fuel, and Hewitt is carrying the Tent)
Bike weight: 23lbs (KHS with ‘sturdy wheels’ and 2 big water bottles, lights, fender).
I will bike tour 200km/ day to reach pinners wedding on time. We also have to ride the day of the wedding ‘a fair bit’.
Sunday: drive to Victoria to race bike
(race #5 this year)
Sunday night / Monday ferry to Port Angeles
Bike 250 miles through the Olympic Mountains to SeaTac Airport
Arrive LA, wed. afternoon, ride 60 miles to Archbiker’s.
Jump out of a perfectly good airplane
(eh, you fool, remember that you’re scared of heights, eh?)
And the saga continues.
