Hi there, welcome to the BLOG of my life as a Vagabiker. Beryl calls me a 'Free Spirit' my Grandpa a B.U.M. of no fixed address. Kelly says I'm 'off the wall'. I think that the Toad is closest saying I'm the Cat in the Hat it's fun to have fun—but you have to know how.

These are the stories of my unique, home-and-job-free Natness.

Naturally, quasi-legal events are fictional. Everything else is the unvarnished truth.

team track burner +1I was off on a road trip this weekend, and had a great time.

First stop was Rondeau Provincial Park in between Chatham and Ridgetown (a misnomer, and where my mother grew up). It’s a beautiful venue, and reminds me of some of my first races I ever did. Race Director Jim Loyer is just packing up day one, as I preview the course … flat, shaded with trees, and very fast. My one kilometer pre race effort I average 46km/h without aero wheels. The run was less positive, after 200m I was walking back to the car in pain (cue ibuprofen, and ice-packs).

Next stop was the Lighthouse Inn to meet up with Jim Cook (team Trackburner Racing Swimmer) and his family for a fantastic pre race dinner. (more…)

Hey there Sports Fans.

After some ramped up training last week, family gatherings, and a night of gallivanting I am back in Hamilton starting my final 2 builds towards first IM Wisconsin, the Josh, and the big one… IM Kona. Yeah, I’m going to be there and I’m going to be ready. I’ll tell you the low down and secret plans the weeks before those events as they approach.

Right now, the Subi is retired, and I will be renting a car (Subi will even meet the rental… poor girl) to get to the races. Maybe I will put a blanket over Subi, or park the enterprise around the corner, so Subi doesn’t see… (more…)

Life with out cycling is really boring - Marc Lanoue

Friday, August 15th, 2008

I was talking to Marc tonight. He’s spent most of the last 3 years riding in France and really enjoying the depth of life over there. He also had to take some time off of cycling - which really is an enjoyable for life type of sport.

Otherwise I’m up at 6:30 to swim with Chelsey, shes in the tail end of her high volume phase. I made it through 2h of her 2h10 workout yesterday morning. She dropped me swimming backstroke (she is a world record holder) to my Freestyle… so I went home, should have napped, but drank the last of the coffee instead. (more…)

new bike.. not for long

I'll post it's actual pic soonSo I got my new Hawaii TT bike yesterday, from Gears, which was really exciting. Swapped out the parts and got it rolling, just as the heavens opened. So I went out with Yorkie and some of the guys, of course with the rain and near darkness (yes mother I had a light on). Bam hit a rock and flat. fix it, ride home, shower, sleep.

Today we were leaving for the brick workout, and as I go to pack my beautiful new bike, it’s got a rear flat, (guess yesterday was a double flat). Somehow in the rush to fix that, I forget cycling shoes… guess the bike-run transition will be that much faster..  We’re riding in a pack, and two guys touch wheels in front of me, boof. Not a happy camper. (more…)
