new bike.. not for long
So I got my new Hawaii TT bike yesterday, from Gears, which was really exciting. Swapped out the parts and got it rolling, just as the heavens opened. So I went out with Yorkie and some of the guys, of course with the rain and near darkness (yes mother I had a light on). Bam hit a rock and flat. fix it, ride home, shower, sleep.
Today we were leaving for the brick workout, and as I go to pack my beautiful new bike, it’s got a rear flat, (guess yesterday was a double flat). Somehow in the rush to fix that, I forget cycling shoes… guess the bike-run transition will be that much faster.. We’re riding in a pack, and two guys touch wheels in front of me, boof. Not a happy camper. Bike chipped, wheel bent, helmet smushed, with road rash all over. I was just saying to last week that I was really happy that as a triathlete there was no threat of falling off my bike, and that was fine with me. Speak of talking too soon.
Ah well, enough of that.
152.5 km/day. length, circumference of the earth = world record. I’ll tell you what, add TT bars, and a bob trailer alone and I’d take a week off his trip. It’ll have to wait though because I’m busy for the next few years. Sweet video editing, and nice that he had a cell phone company sponsoring the entire thing.
Or if I’m really feeling like I have too much time on my hands, I could do this in conjunction http://www.bikeradar.com/news/article/globe-circumnavigator-on-way-home-12496
Last week a lady on a bicycle, ran a stop sign, and I had to slow down to avoid hitting her. I paused as I reached for the horn to laugh to myself. Though I always time my road crossings so that I’m out of the danger of cars, this was a girl after my own heart.
Go ride your bike
