Hi there, welcome to the BLOG of my life as a Vagabiker. Beryl calls me a 'Free Spirit' my Grandpa a B.U.M. of no fixed address. Kelly says I'm 'off the wall'. I think that the Toad is closest saying I'm the Cat in the Hat it's fun to have fun—but you have to know how.

These are the stories of my unique, home-and-job-free Natness.

Naturally, quasi-legal events are fictional. Everything else is the unvarnished truth.

Kona: 1 day before race start (just a handfull of hours)

Mr. Salt Stick and IHey,

I would like to thank everyone for the notes that they’ve sent me and the huge support network of friends, family, and extended family, and families who adopt me for months at a time.  I’ve been too busy the last few days to post up every comment, but I have people pulling for me from as far away as UN Peace Keeping in Sudan, and of course no one will be more nervous than my father back home in Bracebridge and my other ‘homes’ around the continent.

Sean Bechtel, who was training in the trenches with me from the beginning, and the C3 team have been a huge support.  Barrie Shepley was room mates with Simon before his gold medal in Sydney, and he’s my room mate/ supporter down here.

Here’s Sean’s note:newly logo'd race kit

I am sure everything will go to plan, with that new suit your swim will be fast then put it to them on the bike, I want to see you riding through some of the pros again, then you know you are tougher then everyone else so just give it on the run, it will come together on the day!!
be excited man, it is something you have always wanted to do, as Yorke would say live the dream!! haha
have a safe trip

And my biggest fans writes:

Have a GREAT DAY tomorrow.

We KNOW you can do it, but good luck anyway.

D.L.O.D. and The Mum

Thanks also to Caron Shepley, Team Trackburner Racing, the dogs, their owners of Chelsea Dog Walking, Sheri, Steph, Ben, Ralph, Emma, Izzy, The Classens in Vegas, Casa deall the race bags set upl Vino and friends in Tucson, Action Sports (who technically own much of my gear and equipment still… ), Roman, Jude, Kristen, the Grogens in Florida.  Not the Academy, but that’s how this is sounding, and I know I’ve missed some people.

OK I’m off to check my bike and gear into the transition area.  I’ll be posting one more article up tonight with my race plan for the morning…

Happy Thanks Giving for everyone back home.

I’ll send you out with the lastest slowtwicthism

  2. I am happy to hear I am not the only person nervous for you. Yesterday I told Steph I am exited but nervous at the same time. Anyways I want to send you the best of luck and good race vibrations from myself, all the dogs and their human counterparts at Chelsea Dog Walking. We’ve been talking about your race all week and a large number of our clients will be watching you race live today on Ironman.com. We all love the Dream Crusher:)
