Q: Nat why no blog updates?

When the races are going well, and training is going well then there is excitement, and I post up blog stories.  When they’re not then you get tweets.  I’ve never before had such a lack luster season, so rather than giving you foaming rants I bite my tongue.  I know that was out of character, sorry to disappoint (though the time could still come).

Training went great through the spring.  ~ a week before St Croix I had my first flat workout of the season, and everything seemed to go into a tail spin from there.

By the time IronMan Canada came around I couldn’t even get the power out on the bike.  A 18% power decrease to be exact, so I focused on being as efficient as possible was ended up being only 3 min slower.  I started the run thinking that I’d have a strong effort from my conservation.

It was still an hour faster than my France debacle.  I suppose next time I should be on tap for 3h15 now that I have the 5h15 and 4h15 out of the way.  The wheels were spinning, but just not biting in and getting traction.

My last completion of the season will be this weekend – the Josh Billings, where I’m planning on defending my 2-person Tin Man title with Mark Peters.

That said, my team mates, Mom & Dad, Coach, Kerry Ryan, Tracey Yorke, Jim Cooke, Mark Herbst and other supporters on my Sponsors Page of C3 team have been fantastic.  Thanks for the support.  I know that I have the potential to rock out an amazing IronMan race, and I’ll regroup and train hard over the winter to that end in the spring.

K-SWISS will have a ad in the next Runners World, and Triathlete magazines with my name in it.  So that’s pretty damn cool.

Another thing that amazed me was that no matter where I was, be it Louisiana, a Caribbean Island, France or Central BC, I was getting cheered on by name.  That was really DaMN cool.  Thanks to all of those people.

For the immediate future, I think that perhaps heading out on a long-ish camping trip of some sort can help me find my mojo.  Last season I put $5,000 of my own money into the season, this year $7,000.  This mainly came from selling my road bikes, mountain bike, and my skis.

When one has a lot on the go, it’s easy to get over a bad series of races because you’ve got what ever else going on.  But when you’ve got all your eggs in one basket, it’s hard going when those eggs are coming up stinky.  While I was trying to keep my chin up this year, there were times when things were fraying on me.  On one occasion I unloaded a little stress onto friends who weren’t deserving of this.  I’m sorry.

Now that I’m done with my moping – here is a picture summarizing the plans for 2010.  The pieces are all here, I just need to plug them into place.
