Powering down the ’09 Season

Mark and I defended our Tin Man Josh title.  It hurt a lot more than I recall it hurting last season.  Again having to go out of my IM comfort zone on the bike really made me suffer.  I was having mouthfuls of acid coming up until I decided that for the sake of my run I should back off and ride more threshold.

Before the run was the canoe though, I sat in the back snacked ;) and navigated while Mark steamed away up front.  Some clowns had over 4 minutes on us starting the 10 km run leg, but around the 7th km I could see a person running who looked like a fast canoe’r.  Just before the 1 mile climb to the line I passed him.  Damn, that was a tough last mile, and I’m feeling it now.

It was a relief to get a win, even if it was the last race of the season.  I also really liked to run into the win, after having had a few rough runs.

you never know where you’ll be sleeping

Simple Schedule:

1) Pack my bike and myself for a 5 day road trip and 4h race.  We’re headed to the tropics, so 2prs shorts, swimsuit, race suit, bike shorts, done.

2) Get to airport – then follow directions.

Despite my best procrastination step 1) went off without a hitch…  traffic was smooth so Sean and I found ourselves 2h early for our Orlando – Miami – Puerto Rico – St Croix Flight.  Snack.  It’s the first occasion since January that I’ve been rested enough, and had enough time to read.  So I read….

E-Bay – Driving Marathons

A friend of mine recently sent me a ‘few things’ to post up on e-bay for him.  As a past Canadian professional road champion he’s got a lot of cool, one off custom clothing that you will never be able to buy anywhere else.  The past 3 days I have locked myself in (unfortunately) my parents, ahem, dining room and now have the majority of his stuff posted up on e-bay.  Because of the time of year there will be some great deals, so make sure to check my auctions next weekend as there will be some fantastic deals.

Want to Achieve your Dream Season? Part 1 of 3.

I am not a sales person, I’m too honest.  Giving good advice is something I do well.  In 2008 I had the greatest sporting season of my life.  Here is my history in fewer than 250 words:

1990-1994
-I raced triathlons and dreamed of racing in Kona

1995-July 2007
-I raced bicycles professionally
-Did not swim or run between 15 and 28 years old

The Dog Blog

dogsSoo. I have been dog walking for the past 3 weeks, and I have one more week of it before jetting back into full Nat-ness. Well focused – hoping to be pro-triathlete Nat-ness. Ha. But for now, I am fund raising by walking the dogs.

It seems simple. I spend around 45 minutes driving around to various houses in the Doggy Taxi rounding the hounds up, once I have found a nice quiet trail-head, I open the bursting, parked car, and tear off through the woods for 45 – 60 minutes of acting like a dog myself. After which time, I round them up, clean them off (kinda), return them, tuckered-out to their homes. Then it’s off to the next group.

Easy-Peasy. Especially since they all know that I am ‘top dog’ and it’s old hat as it’s now my 3rd time walking…
