• The ave N American wastes 19% of their petrol idling. After 10 seconds of stopped, it’s more efficient (& peaceful) to turn the engine off. #

• Won ag race by seconds. ~8th overall. Did not walk, nor get hurt. #
• All ready for race. Light drizzel. I love this life. Meeting at pentacostal woke me up at 11 last night #
• Alarm didn’t go off this AM. Can someone call at 5:30 EST so I don’t sleep too late (tent behind church has no room wake-up call) #
• Arrived Pelham AB for Xterra. I do not look (no gold shoes -bling K-SWISS, no turquoise/ lime green clothing) nor sound like a local #
• Badly in need of navigator. Added 90 min to trip touring uk in lexington. Guess a map could help #
• This week: driving – 39h, training – 18h, sleeping locations – 5, nights in tent 5, countries raced in – 2, pay – for the love of the game #
• Last wknd was great. Visited the bro & fam. Mtb w the dorans. Great dinner on the lake. Mowed lawn. Walked dog. Great #
• Great meal at the light house inn. Catching up with j crookham in detroit. Great long time friend #
• Dog’s Breakfast: Kibble & Bacon (she’s 12). Nat B: Local eggs, Tomato, Bulgar, Cappuccino … CRISIS *NO MILK* Dog, we have a problem #

St Croix… pre-Pelham Xterra

St Croix Race:
1km into the bike leg I could feel my rear tire (Sean’s borrowed tubular disc) going flat. 600m later there was an aid station, so I stopped there, and yelled for a knife.  As it was St Croix. in 30 seconds a guy shows up with a steak knife, and we saw through the tubular – rip it off, and have the new on one, inflated, and installed in 3min40s.  Of course this tire is too fat for my frame, so I have to take it off and adjust the set screws in the horizontal dropouts.  Another 2min50 gone.  Read more
